It might be hard to believe since TATTGOC radiates such a pervasive air of professionalism, but the Tramps were caught a little on the hop last week. Glasgow City Council announced the team of restaurants that would be representing our fair city in the Curry Capital 2013 competition a few days earlier than advertised, awkwardly clashing with our attempt to celebrate curry over in Edinburgh. No matter – the team is confirmed, and we're definitely on board. If you missed the newsflash, here's the squad:

There have been changes at the competition too – the dozens of listeners to our irregular Keep Calm And Curry On chatcasts will know the Tramps have long groused that the Curry Capital website was a little hard to navigate and decipher. This year – in association with event sponsor Hungryhouse.co.uk – they've launched a brand new Curry Capital 2013 site. It includes a very thorough guide to how the competition works, a timeline of important dates, details of past winners and profiles of each participating city (including a mention of "Hampton Park" in Glasgow). It looks like they will also be updating the site with extra content as the contest continues towards the October climax – they've already posted an interview with the canny masterminds behind the campaign of third place veterans Wolverhampton. (Although they haven't asked the most pressing question: how come Wolverhampton seem to have five restaurants in their squad?)

But, appropriately, the main focus is on gathering public votes ahead of the September 12 deadline, and to sweeten the deal, Hungryhouse.co.uk have added a very special incentive – vote through the official site and you'll be entered into a prize draw, with the chance of winning Hungryhouse vouchers worth £300. You don't have to spend it on Indian takeaways in your area, but we'd hope the eventual winner would feel compelled to do just that.
